Sunil Narine’s blazing century, a first for him in the IPL, steered Kolkata Knight Riders to a formidable 223/6. The all-rounder’s onslaught of 109 runs off 56 balls featured 13 fours and 6 sixes, showcasing his immense batting prowess. With this achievement, Narine becomes only the third KKR player to achieve a century in the IPL.

Narine’s century wasn’t just a personal milestone; it was a display of sheer dominance. Accompanied by Angkrish Raghuvanshi’s quickfire 30 off 18 balls and Rinku Singh’s unbeaten 20 off 9 balls, KKR set a daunting target for Rajasthan Royals.
Despite KKR’s imposing total, Rajasthan Royals’ bowlers showed resilience, with Avesh Khan and Kuldeep Sen sharing four wickets between them. However, their efforts couldn’t contain Narine’s onslaught.
Joining Elite Company
Narine’s century places him in esteemed company within KKR’s history. He joins Brendon McCullum and Venkatesh Iyer as the only players to achieve this feat for the team.
1. Brendon McCullum
In the inaugural IPL match in 2008, Brendon McCullum set the stage on fire with an unbeaten 158 against Royal Challengers Bangalore. His blistering knock included 10 fours and a staggering 13 sixes.
2. Venkatesh Iyer
Breaking a dry spell of 15 years, Venkatesh Iyer announced his arrival with a scintillating century during the 2023 IPL season. His knock of 104 runs off 51 balls against Mumbai Indians featured 6 fours and 9 sixes.
Homeground Glory
Narine’s century holds additional significance as the first for KKR at their home ground, Eden Gardens. While McCullum and Iyer achieved their centuries at different venues, Sunil Narine’s historic feat at Eden Gardens adds a special chapter to KKR’s IPL journey.
