Most people have heard of the most downloaded apps. But, do you know which app gets deleted the most? There are different apps for every task in every smartphone. But, among these, there are several apps that many people feel like losing their minds or becoming addicted to it after using for a long time. As a result, that app is being deleted from the mobile. There is one such app that users deleted the most in 2023.
Most Deleted Apps in 2023: Instragram
According to the report of US- based tech firm, TRG Datacenters, Instagram has been deleted the most this year. Yes, you have heard rightly. People’s minds have been messed up by the fact that all the eye-catching pictures and reels can be seen just by touching the app however the silly and repetitive reels they are. A lot of people deleted Instagram from their phones in 2023.
Many social media apps have struggled to gain popularity throughout the year. According to the report, the majority of people want to delete the Instagram app.
In 2023, more than 1 million people worldwide searched for “How to delete an Instagram app?”. 12,500 out of every 100,000 people worldwide searched for how to delete Instagram. Which proves that many people are unwilling to have this app on their phone.
According to TRG Datacenters, there are 4.8 billion social media users worldwide, representing 59.9% of the world’s population and 92.7% of all Internet users. Data indicates that in 2023, more than 1 million people worldwide will be actively searching for ‘how to delete my Instagram account’ every month.
Interestingly, despite its origins as a digital scrapbook, Instagram is consistently at the forefront with the other social medias.
Even after all these deletions, the app is still a huge network with 2.4 billion active users worldwide. However, if a million people keep trying to delete their accounts every month, Instagram could be lost in the process.
Why Instagram users are upset?
Instagram is the social media platform that has disappointed most people this year. At the same time, in 2023, Meta’s own ‘Threads’ app gained 100 million users within five days of its launch. By the end of the year, its number of active users had dropped by nearly 80 percent.
According to the report, this is because some additions made to the platform over the years have changed the original photo-sharing purpose of the app. “Increasingly, Instagram has become a place for influencers to build their careers, meaning many people’s feeds include #ads that impact the user experience,” the report noted.
Researchers believe that certain developments, like advertising on Instagram as well as branding done by influencers, have driven people away from the platform.
How do researchers conducted the research?
According to Statista statistics, researchers conducted research on nine popular social media networks. In addition to Instagram, the 8 apps that were studied were Snapchat, Twitter (now X), Telegram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube, WhatsApp, and WeChat.
These apps are used in almost all countries. Then they searched for ‘how to delete an account’ in the last 12 months. Based on that, the company presented this report.
The researchers later used the global population to equate the number of people searching for specific terms each month per 1,00,000.
Other Unwanted Social Media Apps
Apart from these statistics, the report also shared the list of the other most deleted social media apps this year.
