With 25 MLAs, BJP was far behind in the number game, but it forced Mahajan against Singhvi to contest.
The Congress government was in the majority in Himachal Pradesh. Abhishek Manu Singhvi would have won the Rajya Sabha elections yesterday with the support of about 40 MLAs, but the Congress MLAs cross-voted against their candidate, due to which Harsh Mahajan of the Bharatiya Janata Party moved towards victory.
The contest was tied by 34-34 votes, according to the information, BJP candidate Harsh Mahajan won by lottery method.
BJP’s Former CM Thakur points finger on Majority of Sukhu Government
After the victory of Harsh Mahajan, former Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur targeted the Congress government fiercely, while talking to the media, he said that we would get the government’s majority test done at the time of the budget session in the Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly.
Jai Ram Thakur said that if 6 to 8 MLAs have done cross-voting, then the government is in the minority, so the Chief Minister should resign. He says that other MLAs of the party are also in touch with the BJP.
