The former Congress leader spokesperson Rohan Gupta joined the BJP in presence of Union minister Hardeep Singh Puri and General Secretary Vinod Tawde at the party’s headquarters in Delhi.
Rohan Gupta, former Congress leader from Gujarat, on Thursday levelled serious allegations against Jairam Ramesh, Congress communications In-Charge and former Union minister soon after entering the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) fold.
The former Congress leader joined the BJP in presence of Union minister Hardeep Singh Puri and General Secretary Vinod Tawde at the party’s headquarters in Delhi.
Gupta also questioned the Congress for supporting Arvind Kejriwal and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Punjab, adding that the grand old party accused Kejriwal of being linked with Khalistani forces.
Rohan Gupta on Jairam Ramesh, INDIA alliance
Gupta claimed that Ramesh allegedly told Congress leaders to keep when objectionable remarks were being made against Sanatana Dharma, referring to DMK leader Udhayanidhi Stalin’s controversial comments in September last year. He further said that there are many contradictions plaguing the grand old party as an alliance using the country’s name was made, referring to the INDIA bloc, but all ‘anti-national forces’ were a part of it.
Slamming the Congress, a party he had been associated with for nearly 15 years, Rohan Gupta said it has become directionless and was full of contradictions, leading to loss of credibility.
He cited the Congress’s stand on a host of issues, including its decision to not attend the Ram temple consecration ceremony, opposition to the CAA and aligning with parties like AAP, to make his point.
Rohan Gupta expressed his support to the BJP leadership’s agenda of a “viksit Bharat” by 2047 and lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision.
After quitting Cong, says it became directionless, worst to Ally with AAP
“How many contradictions can be there? There is a communication in charge who has ‘Ram’ in his name, he told us to keep quiet when Sanatan (Dharma) was being insulted… An alliance using the country’s name was made but anti-national forces were included in it,” said Gupta, who had been a familiar face of the Congress in TV debates. “What is the compulsion that (Arvind) Kejriwal who was accused of being connected with Khalistanis today is being supported by them?” he added, according to news agencies.
Gujarat Cong said it was on expected lines to join BJP
Gujarat Congress spokesperson Manish Doshi said Gupta’s decision to join the BJP was on expected lines, underlining that Gupta’s decision to put out his resignation on social media on March 22 was also part of the script dictated to him by his new bosses.
To be sure, the Congress on March 12 named Rohan Gupta, who previously held the role of social media head for the party, as its candidate from Ahmedabad East Lok Sabha. On March 18, he released his letter to the party withdrawing from the race due to his father’s poor health.
In a surprise move four days later, he resigned from the Congress citing what he described as repeated instances of “constant humiliation” and “character assassination”.
Gourav Vallabh joins BJP after quitting Congress over party’s anti-Santana stance
Gupta’s joining came shortly the former Congress spokesperson Gourav Vallabh on Thursday too joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) after leaving the grand old party. Vallabh joined the BJP at the party’s headquarters in Delhi.
Vallabh quit the Congress over his differences with the party’s stance over remarks against Sanatana Dharma, Ayodhya Ram Mandir pran pratishtha and his discomfort with the overall working of the Congress party in the recent past.
“These days, the party is moving in the wrong direction. On one hand, we talk about the caste-based census and on the other hand, the party seems to oppose the entire Hindu society. This style of working gives a misleading message to the public that the party is a supporter of a particular religion only. This is against the basic principles of Congress,” he said.
