Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has directed a criminal case filed against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for allegedly “provoking the crowd” after a clash broke out between Congress workers and police on the outskirts of Guwahati on Tuesday in Bharat Nyay Yatra.
Assam CM Sarma says Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra participants caused violence, provocation, and damage to public property in State where peace is natural; former Congress president says top BJP leaders are full of hatred, Assam has most corrupt Chief Minister ever
The Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra led by Rahul Gandhi was stopped from entering Guwahati earlier in the day after it was denied permission to enter the city limits, leading to protests from Congress workers.
“We have evidence against him. We will arrest him after the Lok Sabha polls because any action before the elections would invite unnecessary criticism,” Mr. Sarma told journalists.
If we talk about this controversy, it started when Rahul Gandhi flagged off the Bharat Nyay Yatra. While on one hand, after his first successful journey Bharat Jodo Yatra, he is now seen becoming the voice of the opposition in a more vocal manner, on the other hand, Himanta Biswa Sarma is the main face of Bharatiya Janata Party in the North East and in view of this, Congress is focusing on him more. They are raining heavily on them from both side.
Congress spokesperson Supriya Shrinet is also seen cornering the Chief Minister of Assam on this controversy and is seen replying to his every tweet.
Pictures of Rahul Gandhi during his trip in India are also going viral on social media.
Hemant Sharma in today’s press conference alleged him, of provoking locals of Assam in his yatra. Rahul Gandhi has made a lot of noise regarding his Sneha Yatra, in which the biggest thing that has come out is that Hemanta Sarma said “Rahul Gandhi did not go to Kamakhya temple Later added ,”These are not part of Assamese culture. We are a peaceful state. Such “naxalite tactics” are completely alien to our culture. I have instructed @DGPAssamPolice to register a case against your leader @RahulGandhi for provoking the crowd & use the footage you have posted on your handles as the evidence,” the Assam Chief Minister wrote.
He further added that his dummy was seen at some places during the entire journey. He also cited a media report on whether he is traveling inside the bus but not present.
