After years of diversity and ethics scandals following a split with the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, the prestigious awards show returned on January 7, with new voters and a new one-year deal with CBS.
Known for glitz, glamour, surprises, and, of course, those iconic golden trophies, this year’s Golden Globes show was hosted by comedian Joe Coy and live from the Beverly Hilton International Ballroom in Los Angeles.
The nominees themselves were a dizzying mix of established veterans and exciting newcomers, with favorites like ‘Barbie’, ‘Killer of the Flower Moon’, and ‘Severance’ vying for top honors.
Da’Vine Joy Randolph from ‘The Holdovers’ and Robert Downey Jr. from ‘Oppenheimer’ won the first two awards of the night for Best Performance in a Supporting Role in a Motion Picture.
‘Oppenheimer’ takes the stage at the Golden Globes by Strom
Oppenheimer grabbed attention by winning one award after another in various categories at the 81st show held on Sunday night. The Nolan-directed biopic film won the award for Best Motion Picture – Drama at the 2024 Golden Globes. Christopher Nolan won the best director award. A total of 5 Golden Gloves Awards are in the crown of this film. Cillian Murphy won the best actor award. Ludwig Góransson won Best Original Score for ‘Oppenheimer’.
Other movies that won the Golden Globes Awards
The film ‘Poor Things’ also won the Golden Gloves Awards in the Best Motion Picture category. The film ‘Anatomy of a Fall’ won the award in the non-English motion picture category.
‘The Boy and the Deer’ won the title in the Animated Film category. The Bear won Best TV Series at the Golden Gloves. On the other hand, the title of Best Drama Series went to Succession. The film Barbie received Golden Gloves Awards for Best Cinematic and Box Office Achievement.
