Bhagwant Mann, Punjab Chief Minister is going to meet AAP Chief Arvind Kejriwal on April 30 in Tihar jail, the Aam Aadmi Party said on Sunday.
Kejriwal was arrested on March 21 by Enforcement Directorate due to the excise- policy linked money laundering case. This is Mann second time meeting with Kejriwal. He also met with him earlier this month.
After the first visit, Mann told media, “I met Arvind Kejriwal in Delhi today. He is just an accused but he is being treated like a criminal. Aam Aadmi Party is an idea. Arvind Kejriwal is a ‘Kattar immandar’ (honest man).”
Earlier on 25th April, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) filled an affidavit in the Supreme Court opposing Delhi Chief Minister’s plea against his arrest. It said that he did not co-operate with the central agency though there are multiple summons sent to him.
The ED told the apex court that Kejriwal was avoiding interrogation by not appearing before the investigation officer despite being summoned nine times.
Kejriwal has decided to challenge his arrest in the top court challenging his arrest by ED and his remand in the excise policy case. Earlier, the Apex court had asked the Central Agency to file its response to Kejriwal’s plea.
The Delhi CM is also challenging the Delhi High Court judgment that dismissed its plea against arrest by the ED. His subsequent remand in the excise policy case. The High Court has said Kejriwal’s absence from the nine ED summons over six months undermined any claims of special privilege as Chief Minister.
Kejriwal was arrested on March 21 by ED in connection with money laundering case, relating to alleged irregularities in the now- cancelled Delhi excise policy. 2021-22.
