LK Advani looked emotional! Held PM Modi’s hand.
Police tightened security outside Lal Krishna Advani’s house as President Draupadi Murmu and PM Modi reached his house to confer LK Advani with Bharat Ratna.
During this, a very emotional moment happened when Lal Krishna Advani held PM Modi’s hand.
Senior BJP leader and former Deputy Prime Minister Lal Krishna Advani was awarded the Bharat Ratna on 31 March, i.e. today.
President confers Bharat Ratna to LK Advani today
President Draupadi Murmu went to Advani’s house on Sunday, i.e. today and honoured him. The Prime Minister was also present at his residence in the said program.
Advani could not come yesterday to the official ceremony due to ill health. PM Modi, Home Minister Shah and BJP President JP Nadda were also present at Advani’s house.
The family members of the four personalities received this honour in yesterday’s program held at Rashtrapati Bhavan. Narasimha Rao’s son PV Prabhakar Rao, Chaudhary Charan Singh’s grandson Jayant Chaudhary, Karpuri Thakur’s son Ramnath Thakur and MS Swaminathan’s daughter Nitya Rao received this honour from the President.
53 personalities awarded Bharat Ratna so far
The Centre had announced to award Bharat Ratna to 5 personalities this year. Since Modi came to power in 2014, Madan Mohan Malviya, Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Pranab Mukherjee, Bhupen Hazarika and Nanaji Deshmukh have received this award during Modi’s tenure, including the 5 personalities of 2024.
The number of people who have received this award so far has become 53.
Understand about Bharat Ratna in points:
- Bharat Ratna is the highest civilian award of the country. It is given for national service such as art, literature, science, public service and sports.
- Bharat Ratna was started on 2 January 1954 by the then President Dr. Rajendra Prasad.
- Earlier this honor was given only while alive, but in 1955 Bharat Ratna was also given posthumously.
- The Prime Minister of the country recommends the name of a person for Bharat Ratna to the President.
- The awardee is given a medal and certificate, which bears the President’s signature. The medal has a shining sun made of platinum on a peepal leaf made of copper. The edge of the leaf is also made of platinum.
- Bharat Ratna is written in Hindi in silver at the bottom of the medal. Satyamev Jayate is written in Hindi below the Ashoka Pillar on the back side.
- No money is given with this honor. No one has been awarded the Bharat Ratna award between 2020 and 2023.
