There was a lot of political heat and shade in the Rajya Sabha elections, restlessness and disappointment were seen in the SP camp due to the rebellion of MLAs.

In this election, SP candidate Jaya Bachchan has got the maximum 41 votes.

The SP had fielded MP Jaya Bachchan, retired IAS officer and former UP Chief Secretary Alok Ranjan and Dalit leader Ramji Lal Suman in the Rajya Sabha elections.

Of these, Alok Ranjan has lost. Seven MLAs of Samajwadi Party gave victory to all the candidates of BJP by cross voting. At the same time, the only BSP MLA gave his vote for BJP.

With this, Ramji Lal Suman, the second SP candidate of SP, got 40 votes. However, SP’s third candidate Alok Ranjan could get only 19 votes and due to cross voting of SP MLAs, SP’s eighth candidate Sanjay Seth won by bringing 29 votes.

The aggressive push by the BJP ahead of the announcement of poll dates for the Lok Sabha was aimed at demonstrating the party’s drawing power and it will have a spin-off effect beyond the events of this Tuesday.
