The results for the Upper House election in the states of Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka and Himachal Pradesh were declared on Tuesday, hours after the voting was completed.
Election for 15 Rajya Sabha seats across these three states took place on Tuesday amid hot political ups and down.
Out of the 56 Rajya Sabha seats contested today, 41 members have secured their positions in the upper house without facing opposition.

There was a lot of political heat and shade in the Rajya Sabha elections, restlessness and disappointment were seen in the SP camp due to the rebellion of MLAs.
The rising clouds of speculations and apprehensions were being pierced by the hopes arising from strategic skills and the success of breaking into the opposition camp.
On Tuesday, a similar political drama was witnessed in the Vidhan Bhawan complex, which became the arena for the electoral battle between BJP and SP for 10 Rajya Sabha seats.
Eight candidates from BJP and three from SP were in the fray for 10 Rajya Sabha seats in UP.
All eight BJP candidates from UP have won in the Rajya Sabha elections. SP candidates have won on two seats.

Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya said, “Today all our eight candidates have won. I congratulate everyone and For the two SP candidates who have won, I also congratulate them.”
Jaya Bachchan gets the most votes in UP RS polls
In this election, SP candidate Jaya Bachchan has got the maximum 41 votes.
The SP had fielded MP Jaya Bachchan, retired IAS officer and former UP Chief Secretary Alok Ranjan and Dalit leader Ramji Lal Suman in the Rajya Sabha elections.
Of these, Alok Ranjan has lost. Seven MLAs of Samajwadi Party gave victory to all the candidates of BJP by cross voting. At the same time, the only BSP MLA gave his vote for BJP.
With this, Ramji Lal Suman, the second SP candidate of SP, got 40 votes. However, SP’s third candidate Alok Ranjan could get only 19 votes and due to cross voting of SP MLAs, SP’s eighth candidate Sanjay Seth won by bringing 29 votes.
The aggressive push by the BJP ahead of the announcement of poll dates for the Lok Sabha was aimed at demonstrating the party’s drawing power and it will have a spin-off effect beyond the events of this Tuesday.

Congres national president Mallikarjun Kharge criticised the BJP for “undermining democracy” by destabilising elected governments.
In Himachal Pradesh, BJP candidate Harsh Mahajan secured the Rajya Sabha seat in the Congress-ruled state.
Chief minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu alleged that several MLAs were being “kidnapped” by the CRPF and Haryana Police, as five to six MLAs were seen reaching Panchkula.

Congress candidates Ajay Maken, Nasser Hussain and GC Chandrashekar emerged victorious after securing 47, 46 and 46 votes, respectively, and will now represent the party in Rajya Sabha.
The BJP suffered a massive setback in the southern state with its MLA ST Somashekar voting for Congress candidate Ajay Maken, while another MLA Arbail Shivaram Hebbar abstaining from voting.
Karnataka Dy CM and Congress leader DK Shivakumar says, “I am very happy to inform you that all the Congress candidates qualified the required quota of 4500 votes in the first round itself and have won.”
He further added “I would like to thank all my voters and legislators. I would also like to thank Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi for giving tickets to three Congressmen of the state.”
