One of the successful team in the history of Indian Premier League Chennai Super Kings (CSK) beat Sunrisers Hyderabad at Chepauk stadium, their home ground on Sunday.
The Chennai based franchise also build another record on Sunday – a single team to score most 200+ runs in a T20 format.
Before this, the record belonged to Somerset, a country cricket team from England.
With a massive innings from their skipper Rituraj Gaikwad (98 from 54 balls) and an excellent bowling figure from Tushar Deshpande stunned SRH. Though Gaikwad missed another century for two runs, but he put his team to a big total (212/3). He tried to play a lofted drive when he was two runs short for reaching to three figures.
This win was crucial for CSK after loosing their last match against LSG in their home ground. After this win, CSK moved to the Number 3 position in the points table with 10 points in their hand.
On the other hand, Sunrisers Hyderabad, who have a strong batting line-up but eventually fall on Sunday at CSK’s home ground. They had scored three 250+ runs in this session while batting first and also break their record by scoring 287/3 in the match against RCB.
However, SRH failed down when they tried to chased the score. Their opening pair Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma found sweeper on off side. Meanwhile, CSK pacer Tushar Deshpande chocked SRH back-to-back three wickets in the power play. That is the turning point of the game and SRH can not turn around from there.
Even another pacer of CSK, Matheesa Pathirana have been brilliant on that day. He had bowled a spectacular yorker to depart their dangerous batter Aiden Markaram when Sunrisers were 85/3 in the 10.5 overs. Ravindra Jadeja is also a key factor for CSK. It may be batting or may be bowling. He is a best fielder also. Yesterday he had not conceded a single boundary with the ball.
This win gave the team self- confidence and also the captaincy of Rituraj Gaikwad is tested.
