The year 2023 is only two months away. The total number of voters in those five states is 16 crores and 10 lakhs. Coming to the doorstep of the Lok Sabha elections, the votes of these five states are seen as semi-finals. Out of these five states, two are ruled by the Congress, while two have BJP and NDA governments. One has the KCR-led government in power. It goes without saying that the NDA vs INDIA battle is going to be fierce in these five high-voltage states.
Before that, Rajkumar Rao’s name was announced as a national icon by the Election Commission on 25 October. On Thursday (26 October) chief election commissioner Rajeev Kumar will formally name him as the national icon of the election comission . Even though the Election Commission did not show any reason behind choosing Rajkumar as a ‘national icon’ .Rajkumar’s fans think that his film ‘Newton’ played a role in this. ‘Newton’ was released in 2017. In the film, Rajkumar played the role of Nutankumar alias ‘Newton’, a government employee from Chaphosha. The movie won the National Award for Best Feature Film in Hindi and was also India’s nominee for the Best Foreign Language Film category at the 90th Academy Awards, popularly known as Oscars. The story of ‘Newton’ is based on the Maoist-dominated area of Chhattisgarh, on which the responsibility of voting in the jungles of North India falls. ‘Newton’ had to struggle to get the votes of only 76 tribals. Although it is known as an area under the control of the army, as time goes on, ‘Newton’ realizes that the situation is quite the opposite. Despite assurances, tribal residents do not dare to come to vote. An unsparing army despite everything. Even local people are not aware about voting rights. Why should you vote, will you get money, they asked. But educated ‘Newton’ cannot accept this impossibility. If there is no vote in democracy, he feels that democracy is insulted. ‘Newton’ realized that democracy is insulted. In the end, venture to vote at the risk of your life. The film also explains why Nutankumar became ‘Newton’. No, there is no role of science or the proverbial scientist in the film but the character of ‘Newton’ is portrayed as an ambassador of complete change, a person capable of bridging the gap between the possible and the impossible.
Rajkumar had shown his participation in ‘Shahid’, ‘Citylights’, ‘Aligarh,’ ‘Newton’ and also some social films like ‘Sonia’, ‘The White Tiger’ and ‘Veed.’Rao also portrayed the titular protagonist role on the series ‘Bose: dead/ alive” based on the life of the great leader Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose .His ability to pass off grounded characters has always been appreciated by fans and film critics. So it is appropriate to choose Rao as the icon. Targeting the Lok Sabha elections, Master Blaster was declared as the Commission’s ‘National Icon’. The National Election Commission has chosen Sachin Tendulkar as the National Icon for the next three years. Sachin Tendulkar’s contribution to 22 yards is undeniable. It is assumed that the National Election Commission wants to exploit his popularity. EC is just wanting to encourage urban voters and youth to vote more and how many people moved to the booth after seeing these icons.
