Over the last few days, big tech giants have been active in developing new technologies. A few days ago, Elon Musk’s Starlink was in the headlines. In June, world-renowned billionaire Elon Musk met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the United States. It was after that meeting that he expressed interest in launching Starlink in India. Elon Musk’s Starlink will provide wireless internet across India from satellites orbiting the Earth. Starlink can be very useful for internet services in some remote villages of the country where the internet is not possible at all. But Elon Musk’s company wants the Indian government to grant them a license for this service. Mukesh Ambani and his company Reliance Jio are blocking the way of free movement of ‘Starlink’ in India. Reliance Jio launched Jio Air Fiber last month and created a response across the country. But now a big announcement has been made by the organization in the field of internet.
Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited, a subsidiary of Jio Platforms Limited, unveiled Jio SpaceFiber, India’s first satellite-based gigafiber service in IMC 2023 during the presence of PM Narendra Modi.

bout Reliance Space fiber
Reliance Jio Chairman Akash Ambani was present at IMC on 27th October as reliance’s representative. There he said Reliance is going to welcome India’s first satellite-based GigaFiber service called Jio SpaceFiber.
Said that every nation needs a vision that inspires it to do great things. PM Modi has given this generation an aspirational vision to transform our country into ‘Viksit Bharat’ (developed India). Millions of youngsters are inspired by his work in making Digital India a means to build a more innovative, inclusive and sustainable world. Last year, He challenged us to make India a global leader in 5G technology. India today ranks among the top three 5G-enabled nations, with over 125 million 5G users.
Akash Ambani said this while giving a speech “we will build a digital statue of unity”.
Akash Ambani showcased Reliance Jio’s indigenous technologies and products including Jio Space Fiber to Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Jio Pavilion at the India Mobile Congress on Friday. Currently, Reliance Jio already serves more than 450 million customers with fast broadband and wireless internet. Jio has added JioSpaceFiber to its lineup of broadband offerings, which include JioFiber and JioAirFiber. This move ensures that consumers and businesses in India can enjoy high-speed internet connectivity regardless of their location. So of course the reliable satellite network will also strengthen mobile backhaul capabilities, making Jio’s True5G network accessible even in the most remote areas of the country.
SES gives Jio access to state-of-the-art Medium Earth Orbit (MEO) satellite technology. The significant aspect of this venture across India with reliance is the partnership plan between Jio and SES, a leading satellite operator.
four of India’s most remote locations have already been connected. Four regions are rural areas.
•Gir, Gujrat
•Nabarangapur, Odisha
•ONGC- jorhat, Assam
•kobra, Chhattisgarh
HOW WILL IT WORK ?
Spacefiber requires customers to have a satellite dish and a Wi-Fi router. The satellite dish will receive the signal from the satellite and the Wi-Fi router will transmit the signal to the laptop, mobile phone and other devices.
OBJECTIVES
• Spacefiber will provide easy internet connectivity in areas where broadband facilities are difficult to reach through fiber cables. It is a satellite based giga fiber technology, which will provide high speed internet even in areas where internet access through fiber cable is difficult.
• Also reducing the digital divide in different places is one of the objectives.
Also, India’s own telecommunication company can develop for its own country. Main goal to promote the development of 5G applications tailored to India’s unique requirements and global demands.
Akash Ambani said “we are expanding our coverage to reach the millions who are yet to be connected” .
