The yatra aims to shed light on the contributions of successive Shiromani Akali Dal governments to Punjab’s development while exposing perceived failures of the incumbent administrations covering 43 constituencies.
The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) is all set to launch the ‘Punjab Bachao Yatra’ from the Indo-Pak border Attari on February 1. The month-long yatra, led by Shiromani Akali Dal president Sukhbir Singh Badal, will travel over 43 constituencies in the Punjab.
Announcement
The announcement was made by Senior Shiromani Akali Dal leader Dr. Daljit Singh Cheema during a media briefing on friday, Main Motive of the yatra is to shed light on the contributions of successive Shiromani Akali Dal governments to Punjab’s development while exposing perceived failures of the incumbent administrations.
Dr. Cheema emphasized that both the previous Congress government and the AAP government had allegedly failed on promises made to the people, failing to deliver on development, failing on employment, and improvements in the condition of farmers, traders, and weaker sections of society. The yatra’s agenda includes canvassing public opinion on the performance of these governments and drawing comparisons with the achievements of the erstwhile Shiromani Akali Dal governments.
Yatra in Punjab History
Nowadays, by organizing such yatras in the country, the politicians can find the mood of the people. If we talk about Punjab then even before this, many yatras have been taken out by political parties in Punjab, like Kheti Bachao Yatra, Punjab Bachao Yatra which was taken out by Congress then. Now, the Shiromani Akali Dal is going to undertake this in Punjab.
Through this yatra, Shiromani Akali Dal will highlight the working of its government among the people of Punjab, and will tell how the Bhagwant Mann government of Aam Aadmi Party and Amrindar Singh’s Congress government is neither solving the issues related to them nor coming to any conclusion on people’s problem.
Objectives of Punjab Bachao Yatra
Additionally, the ‘Punjab Bachao Yatra’ will shine a spotlight on concerns related to law and order, the purported rise of a gangster culture leading to a shift of investors out of Punjab, and the large-scale illegal sand mining allegedly involving AAP legislators and ministers. The yatra will also address issues of political vendetta, corruption, and what the Shiromani Akali Dal sees as a surrender on core Punjab matters by the AAP government, including river waters and the state capital.
Schedule of Yatra
The detailed schedule for the yatra spans from February 1 to February 28, covering constituencies such as Attari, Majitha, Amritsar City, Tarn Taran, Ferozepur, Bathinda, and Mansa, among others. The SAD aims to use this extensive tour to engage with the public, gather feedback, and build momentum ahead of the upcoming political landscape in Punjab.
