The Election Commission of India (ECI) issued a notice to Uddhav Thakeray’s Shiv Shena party for using “Jay Bhavani Jay Shivaji” slogan and “Hindu Hai Tujhe Dharma” words in it’s new party anthem for the ’24 campaign.
However, former CM of Maharashtra Thakray in a reply to EC stated, “We will not remove these words under any circumstances.”
He also defended the inclusion of words, citing Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s establishment of Hindavi Swaraj with the blessing of Goddess Tulja Bhavani, and said they are not soliciting vote based on religion. Uddhav Thakrey was addressing this during a press conference in Mumbai on Sunday.
The Shiv Sena has asked ECI whether the laws have been changed and if it was okay, ask for vote for the religion. He also said, “The poll body has not responded to our letter though there was a reminder send from us. In the reminder, we had said if the laws have been changed, we also say “Har Har Mahadev in our Election rally.”
The song at the dispute was released on 16th April on party’s social media handle, featuring the slogans and Bal Sahab Thackrey.
