Arvind Kejriwal’s aide, Bibhav Kumar, filed a police complaint on Friday, May 17, against Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Swati Maliwal, accusing her of unauthorised entry into the Chief Minister’s residence on May 13, which led to a commotion.
This comes after the AAP Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal had alleged that Bibhav Kumar assaulted her at the residence of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on May 13 when she had gone to meet the CM. Later Maliwal filed an FIR against Kumar, alleging that he attacked her with full force, slapping and kicking her in the chest and abdomen.
Bibhav’s complaint came in response to a video that was shared on May 17 where Maliwal could be seen screaming and abusing at the security guards inside Arvind Kejriwal’s house. Swati Maliwal assault had later raised concerns about the potential tampering of CCTV cameras at CM’S residence.
In the complaint sent via email to the SHO of the Civil Lines Police Station, Kumar claimed that Maliwal forcibly breached the security of the CM’s residence and caused a disturbance. When he attempted to prevent her entry, she allegedly hurled abuses at him.
In Kumar’s written complaint, which was shared by AAP’s official X (formerly Twitter) handle, Kejriwal’s aide claimed Maliwal illegally entered the Chief Minister’s residence and created a security breach
It alleged that Maliwal forcefully and illegally entered the Chief Minister’s residence despite objections from security personnel and staff. Kumar claimed that when asked to schedule an appointment with the Chief Minister, Maliwal responded by verbally abusing him and disregarding security protocols.
Kumar also stated that Maliwal is now trying to falsely implicate him by alleging that he assaulted her during her visit to meet Kejriwal. Kumar’s complaint detailed that Maliwal “forcefully and illegally trespassed” into the CM’s residence despite objections from security and CMO staff. On May 13, Maliwal reportedly told security personnel that she was a Rajya Sabha MP and, despite being asked to wait for appointment verification, she forcibly entered the premises.
In response, Swati Maliwal filed an FIR against Bibhav Kumar, accusing him of assault. According to her complaint, she was assaulted by Kumar when she went to meet Kejriwal at his residence.
Based on Maliwal’s allegations, the police booked Kumar under various sections, including 308 (attempt to commit culpable homicide), 341 (wrongful restraint), 354B (assault or use of criminal force against a woman with intent to disrobe), 506 (criminal intimidation), and 509 (insult to the modesty of a woman).
AAP leader Atishi on Saturday claimed that party MP Swati Maliwal, who has accused Arvind Kejriwal’s aide Bibhav Kumar of assaulting her, is facing arrest in an illegal recruitment case and she was “blackmailed” by the BJP to become part of the “conspiracy” against the Chief Minister. Atishi, who is also a cabinet minister in the Delhi government, alleged that Maliwal went to the chief minister’s official residence on Monday without an appointment.
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Friday demanded Delhi CM Kejriwal to speak on APP Swati Maliwal’s assault case and apologise. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman while addressing the press conference at the BJP headquarters condemned Kejriwal’s silence on the issue, labeling it ‘unbelievable and unacceptable’. Kejriwal has not said single word Since May 13, She added.
As per the latest update, Delhi Police arrested Bibhav Kumar, former PS of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, in connection with the AAP MP Swati Maliwal assault case.
