Well-Deserved title
Travis Head, 29 is the true holder of the title, ‘Player of the Month’. After being injured for a long time, Head scored a great century when he returned to the World Cup match at the end of October. This batsman celebrated his return with that century against New Zealand.
Head collected a total of 220 runs in five ODI matches played in November. Head’s performances in the semi-final and final matches of the World Cup are particularly memorable. Head’s century in the final brought home Australia’s sixth title.
In the semi-final match as well, he put the South African batsmen in trouble. The Australian opener made 62 off 48 balls to ease the team’s victory, restricting the Proteas to a decent collection.
Heroic victory in the race of compitition
Head had to go through a lot of competition with teammate Maxwell and Indian player Shami to win this award. However, this batsman played a direct role in Australia’s World Cup.
Head played an 18-ball, 35-run innings against India in the third T20 match of the 5-match series after the World Cup. Australia won that match by five wickets.
Travis Head was man of the match in the ICC World Cup 2023 semi-final and final as well. Travis Head scored a half-century in the semi-final of the ODI World Cup. In the final against Team India, he smashed a brilliant century and played a major role in his team’s victory.
Travis shares His joy with team players
This incredible Cricketer prayed Tribute to his teammates. He mentioned, “It’s a great honour to be recognised with this award, but it is a team effort. Without my team-mates across all formats this wouldn’t have happened; so these types of awards are as much for them as they are for me.”
“I was lucky that they trusted me even after I broke my arm. It was a great opportunity for me to give back to them. I thought it was the best batting I had ever done in a World Cup. It’s a great honor to win this award, but it’s a team effort,” he added.
Indians are heartbroken: pacer shami couldn’t win
Mohammed Shami was at a fast pace in the World Cup. Shami took the most wickets in he World Cup 2023. A new stone of success could have been fixed in the crown of the Indian pacer.
Shami was also nominated for the ICC Men’s Player of the Month Award. But Shami could not outfight the title of ICC player of the month. Indians are quite disappointed by this.
Hardik Pandya’s injury opens the door to the World Cup for Shami. Head’s bat knocked India out of the ring in the final. Australia was once under pressure to chase India’s runs. But Travis lifted the whole team brilliantly.
