President nominates Mrs. Murthy to Rajya Sabha as a tribute to ‘Nari Shakti’ on Women’s Day

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has congratulated Sudha Murthy on her nomination to the Rajya Sabha.

Sudha Murthy, wife of famous businessman and Infosys co-founder Narayan Murthy, has been nominated to the Rajya Sabha by President Draupadi Murmu. Regarding this, Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Sudha Murthy and said that this is a powerful proof of women power.

On X, PM Modi expressed his delight, saying, “I am delighted that the President of India has nominated @SmtSudhaMurty Ji to the Rajya Sabha. Sudha Ji’s contributions to diverse fields including social work, philanthropy, and education have been immense and inspiring. Her presence in the Rajya Sabha is a powerful testament to our ‘Nari Shakti’, exemplifying the strength and potential of women in shaping our nation’s destiny. Wishing her a fruitful Parliamentary tenure.”

Who is Sudha Murthy?

Sudha Murthy is the chairperson of Infosys Foundation as well as a teacher and writer. He has written many books. He was born on 19 August 1950 in Shigaon.

She married Infosys co-founder Narayana Murthy in 1978. He has a daughter, Akshara Murthy, who is the wife of British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak. Sudha Murthy’s son’s name is Rohan Murthy.

After this announcement, Sudha Murthy expressed happiness and said that I am not in India at present.

But this is a big gift for me on Women’s Day. This is a new responsibility to work for the country. I am grateful to Prime Minister Modi for this.

Sudha Murty is a novelist and motivational speaker as well. She received the Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri.

“Women contribute significantly to the functioning of society and the economy. If they were to stop working, it would create a major imbalance and affect various aspects of daily life,” she wrote on X.

Works, Awards & Honors

She is also a member of the Gates Foundation’s Public Health Care Initiative. He established the Murthy Classical Library of India at Harvard University.

In 2006, Sudha Murthy was awarded the Padma Shri, India’s fourth highest civilian award. He was later awarded the Padma Bhushan, the third highest civilian award.

Mrs Murthy is an Inspiration for All

Sudha Murthy is the President of Infosys Foundation as well as a famous writer. Sudha has been continuously working for women and children.

He has written many inspirational books. In fact, Sudha Murthy herself had given a loan of Rs 10,000 to her husband NR Nayaran Murthy during the beginning of Infosys in 1981.

Sudha has told in the TV show that at that time they were living in a rented house and there was shortage of money.

His daughter Akshata Murthy is the wife of current British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak.Akshata is also recognized as an Indian fashion designer living in Britain.

At the same time, his son Rohan Murthy is the founder of America based software development firm Soroco.

 

Apart from this, Murthy Classical Library has also been established in India by Rohan Murthy, which is part of the Clay Sanskrit Library project headed by American Sanskrit scholar Sheldon Pollock. Talking about his wife Aparna Krishnan, she is the daughter of retired Navy officer KR Krishnan and former banker Savitri Krishnan.
