The party has again expressed confidence in 16 sitting MPs. This list includes the names of 12 women who have been given tickets.
Actually, Adhir Ranjan Chaudhary has been cornering the Mamata government on every issue. When talks were going on between Congress and TMC regarding seat sharing in Bengal.
Adhir Ranjan, MP since 1999
Adhir Ranjan is considered to have a good hold on Baharampur seat. He has been MP from this seat since 1999. He won elections from this seat for 5 consecutive times. Earlier this seat was with RSP
Even then Adhir Ranjan was leaving no opportunity to corner the Mamata government.
TMC leaders had also told Adhir Ranjan Chaudhary the reason behind not having an alliance with Congress. Now Mamta has fielded famous cricketer Yusuf Pathan to corner Adhir Ranjan.
Caste equation of Baharampur seat
According to the 2011 census, there are about 52% Muslim voters in Baharampur Lok Sabha seat. Whereas there are 13.2% SC and 0.9% ST voters here. In such a situation, Mamata Banerjee has gambled on a Muslim candidate to cut off the Muslim vote of Congress from this seat.
