While removing people offering Namaz on the road in Delhi’s Indralok at around 2 pm on Friday afternoon, a police sub-inspector kicked him from behind.
People agitation over cops act during offerings namaz
People expressed strong displeasure on this. When the policeman protested, people became angry and started scuffling.
After the video of the incident went viral, hundreds of angry people sat on the road near Indralok metro station and started raising slogans demanding action. This caused severe traffic jam in the surrounding areas.
During this time the police asked the people to move away from there. People did not move from there. People created ruckus when mild force was used. Also a video started going viral on social media.
Administration controlled the incident, suspended cops
At the same time, the police officers who reached the spot tried to pacify the people who were creating ruckus.
People’s anger subsided when Deputy Commissioner of Police Manoj Kumar Meena suspended outpost in-charge Sub Inspector Manoj Kumar on charges of kicking and ordered a departmental inquiry.
After this, additional police force was deployed on the spot. Evening prayers were offered amid tight security arrangements.

Friday Namaz offering incident near Indrapuri Metro station
According to the police, people had come to offer namaz at the Bada Masjid near Indralok metro station. Since there was no space in the mosque, some people started offering namaz on the road.
Due to this the traffic system was disrupted. After receiving the complaint, Indralok outpost in-charge sub-inspector Manoj Kumar reached there with the police team and started asking people to vacate the road, but people ignored his words. Enraged by this, Manoj started pushing people away from the road.
During this, he kicked some people who were offering Namaz from behind.
Due to this people got agitated and started fighting. Shortly after the namaz ended, the people who came out created a ruckus over the incident and started protesting by sitting at the intersection near Indralok metro station.
Meanwhile, due to the jam, people going from Zakhira Bridge to Najafgarh Road, Shastri Nagar and Keshavpuram had to face a lot of problems. The jam cleared after about three hours.
Additional police to maintain law and order
Additional police force was deployed in the area to maintain law and order. The District Police Deputy Commissioner and the Zone’s Joint Commissioner reached the spot and started trying to pacify the people.

Pacified by meeting local people with administrator
It was becoming very difficult to pacify the angry people. In such a situation, police officers held a meeting with well-known people of the area and issued a message that police action has been taken in this matter.
Only after this people calmed down and the jam was removed from the road. In the presence of police, people offered evening prayers in the mosque. During this time no namazi was on the road.
