Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Tuesday named the Baramulla stadium after former Chief of Defence Staff General Bipin Rawat and urged locals to participate in the ‘Jhanda Ooncha Rahe Hamara’ program on the upcoming Republic Day. According to an order, sanction has been accorded to name Jhelum Stadium, Janbazpora as “General Bipin Rawat Stadium”.
LG Sinha remembering Rawat in his speech at inaugrating event of this stadium which gaves a new identity to a stadium as General Bipin Rawat Stadium. He said ” Sometimes in centuries, a great hero is born who is commonly called an Angel of God”
Remembering Gen Rawat
Earlier, LG Sinha paid homage to General Rawat and described him as “the brave soldier and military strategist”. LG Sinha Governor remembered the service of General Rawat in north Kashmir, where he served in various capacities and “provided immense contribution in peace, progress, and prosperity”.He said the proposal of changing name to the stadium is not issued or processsed by the administration or the J&K Government but the proposal was from the “Awaam(People) of Baramulla ”
LG Sinha said, “His roots were deeply intertwined with Baramulla, where he served as an Army officer. The proposal for a stadium in his honour originated from the local community, reflecting the profound connection Rawat held with Baramulla. Upon his passing, scores of people from Baramulla journeyed to Delhi to bid their final farewells. Let it be known to the people of Baramulla that our endeavours for district development stand as the greatest tribute to General Rawat.”
Further for Republic day celebration preparation in Jammu & Kashmir, he said, “I want the skies of Baramulla to be filled with the Tiranga”.
On Growth,Development & Electoral Process in J&K
LG Sinha said all the districts in Jammu & Kashmir were witnessing accelerated growth.
“Rural Jammu Kashmir has been transformed and emerging as beyond imagination. We have been able to fulfill the aspirations of the people to a large extent. Today, the people of Jammu Kashmir have better quality of life ,living and equal economic opportunities to grow”, he said.
Lieutenant General Rajiv Ghai, the General Officer Commanding of the 15 Corps, on this ocassionn said it was a proud moment that the stadium has been named after General Bipin Rawat.
Talking about Urban Local Bodies and Panchayats elections, Sinha said “After reservations to OBCs are completed, elections for Urban Local Bodies and Panchayats will be held (in J&K),” We are ready for elections after reservations.
Meanwhile later, After several weather reports dry condition of atmoshphere in Kashmir valley, LG Sinha said “Snowfall is necessary for Kashmir, I pray to God for snow. Snowfall is necessary for power projects to run, otherwise they will become defunct. Snowfall is also a must to keep the tourism sector thriving,”.
On the security scenario in Kashmir , Lieutenant General Ghai said the current situation in Kashmir was good “but there is still a distance to be covered to move forward.
