Wipro Limited, a leading Indian multinational corporation specializing in information technology, consulting and business process services, announced the appointment of Srinivas Pallia as its new CEO and Managing Director on Saturday. Pallia assumes this role following the resignation of Thierry Delaporte, who headed the company for four years.
Who is Srini Pallia?
Srinivas Pallia is a consistent player withing the Wipro ecosystem, boasting a career spanning over three decades in the company. He joined Wipro in 1992 as a Product Manager and has since climbed the ranks, holding various leadership positions including President of Wipro’s Consumer Business Unit and Global head of Business Application Services, cementing his place in the industry. Most notably, however, Pallia served as the CEO for Americas 1, Wipro’s largest and fastest-growing strategic market, where he headed initiatives across industry sectors, enhancing market shares and growth.
Throughout his tenure, Pallia has been instrumental in shaping Wipro’s trajectory. Possessing extensive institutional and industry knowledge, he is known for his client-centric approach, commitment to Wipro’s values and a track-record of delivering results even in adverse situations.
Educationally, Pallia holds a bachelor’s degree in engineering and a master’s in management studies from the esteemed Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru. Thierry Delaporte, who assumed the role of CEO and MD of Wipro in July 2020, has resigned to pursue passions outside the workplace. In light of Delaporte’s resignation, the Board of Directors approved Pallia’s appointment as CEO and MD effective immediately.
