Zelensky (Volodymyr Zelensky) Ukraine’s President announced on Friday that he is developing a “comprehensive plan” for how the country believes the war with Russia should end.
There are no current public discussions between Ukraine and Russia and based on public statements from Zelensky and Russian President Vladimir Putin, the two sides appear to be as far apart as ever on the terms of a future peace accord.
Zelensky convened a large international summit in Switzerland earlier this month to garner support for Ukraine’s position, but Russia was not invited.

“It is very important for us to show a plan to end the war that will be supported by the majority of the world,” Zelensky explained to reporters on Friday.

“This is the diplomatic route we are working on,” he said during a press conference in Kyiv with Slovenian President Natasa Pirc Musar.
Pleased to welcome Slovenia’s President @nmusar to Ukraine on our Constitution Day.

In Brussels on Thursday, Zelensky stated that he will present a “detailed plan” in a matter of months.
“We don’t have too much time,” he remarked, referring to the high fatality rate among military and civilians.
Russia’s troops are gradually advancing on the battlefield, claiming to have captured another tiny frontline village on Friday.
They presently possess roughly one-fifth of Ukraine and claimed in 2022 to have conquered four more regions, none of which they entirely controlled.
Ukraine relies on Western financial and military assistance to repel invading Russian forces, but its troops are outgunned, outmanned, and tired after more than two years of combat.
How is the international community reacting to this initiative?
The international community has been keenly watching President Zelenskyy’s efforts to end the Russo-Ukrainian War. While there is no unanimity, some countries have expressed support for his peace plan, highlighting the importance of communication and diplomatic solutions. Others, however, remain apprehensive, citing the ongoing fighting and Russia’s operations in the region. The situation remains complex, with international responses varying depending on geopolitical interests and historical context.
How has Russia responded to Zelensky’s efforts?

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has urged Western leaders to put pressure on Russia to make peace. However, Russia maintains its position. Moscow has refused to engage in direct negotiations with Kyiv until its forces have withdrawn from all Ukrainian territory, including Crimea. Despite the continued war, President Zelensky continues to advocate for aid and has even demanded one-on-one negotiations with Russian President Vladimir Putin to reach an agreement. The situation continues tense as Russia escalates its offensive and Zelensky seeks international support for his peace terms. Let us hope for improvement in these difficult times.
